Chelsea Flower Show - Chive's ceramic flowers

By Clare Foggett - May 22, 2018

This year’s Chelsea Flower Show had plenty of inspiration for houseplant growers. Fuelled by a burgeoning rental market, and an Instagram-led fervour for indoor growing, houseplants are riding high at the moment, and this year’s show had lots to offer, including an exhibition in Chelsea’s Great Pavilion

Dress up your indoor plant displays with these gorgeous ceramic flowers from Chive. Inspired by flowers, succulents and coral, these decorative pieces would look lovely nestled among plants on a coffee table, mantelpiece or on a beautiful tray.

Plants Work, the IKEA exhibit at Chelsea this year, is an open-plan home office installation in the Discovery area of the Pavilion, that uses plants to show how they can create a greener, healthier working environment. It was created in conjunction with Indoor Garden Design – the firm’s creative director Ian Drummond recommends sansevieria (mother in law’s tongue) and zamioculcas as easy-care options, both needing little watering and coping well in challenging low light. He also suggest striking plants such as Monstera deliciosa (the Swiss cheese plant) and Ficus lyrata for lots of visual green impact to boost workplace creativity.

There are new houseplants to tempt too, including a brand new bromeliad, not seen in the UK until now. Neoregelia ‘Pimiento’ can grow to a width of 50cm and a height of 30cm and is easy to look after, as long as it has strong but filtered sunlight. The long-lasting plant has dark leaf margins surround a bright crimson stripe.

Meet Coral, our fabulous and unique ceramic flowers.

Recently featured in this years May issue of Vogue. These fun and colorful pieces have quickly become a Chive Favorite Must Have!

Until the Coral ceramic flowers came along, we had never designed anything that was meant to do nothing but look pretty.

There are endless possibilities with these ceramic flowers, corals and succulents. Mix them up with live plants or your use them for tabletop decorations, paperweights, or tuck them into a plant arrangement for extra color and texture. How about some wall art? Create a artistic focal floral wall full of intrigue and texture. They are the perfect Objet d’Art! And they are the plant/flower that never dies!

They look absolutely amazing in terrariums. Check out our Bolsk Table terrarium and picture it with a beautiful green layer of sheet moss and one or two juicy succulents with Coral Flower Green and a Coral Cactus Blue nestled among the plants. This will be the most unique terrarium you’ve ever seen. You might have that arrangement on your coffee table or simply get a beautiful tray to display them and then get some super glue and hang them on your wall for some instant wall art. People will ask who your interior designer is.
